RE: uk-policy pop solutions for unemployment

That unemployment exists is purely a political decsision. A cursory
glance around the environment where I live (with one of the UK's highest
adult unemployment figures) indicates that there is plenty of work to be
done. The problem lies in finding somebody willing to pay to have it done.
Cutting the hours of those in work is not necessary to create work.

Having pased through Germany lately I could not help but notice the manning
levels in Frankfurt airport in comparison to Manchester, or the samllest
railway station in comparison to Bangor, the typical bakery shop...the
University secretarial support ( the post grads to do the donkey work as
well!). I know I am supposed to believe that the British economy is that
much stronger than that of Germany ( John Redmond told me so on the radio
this morning) however I keep on getting this gut reaction that even with
the major shock of reunification and racist attacks apart, the economic
refugee would be better to chose Westphalia than West Wales
