D. Chemical plating:

This is also a reliable corrosion and abrasive resistance that uses nickel and phosphor alloy.

E. Bluing:

This is the process of exposing the steel fender to a chemical compound that can create a colored and resistant surface.

The good news is that you can take preventive measures to control the environment and decrease the likelihood of corrosion. You can start simply by decreasing exposure of washers to seawater or rain.  You can also take complicated measures like regulating the sulfur, chlorine and oxygen amount.
