Health Policy Theme Group

I am in the process of establishing this group, and I would appreciate confirmation of your interest - and also your ideas about the group's structure and functioning.

My initial ideas are for an e-mail discussion group with limited mailing backup, (I cannot at present provide secretarial support). The group could publish discussion papers (eg in Renewal) and / or place them on the Nexus web site. It could also hold occasional seminars, probably in London, and conference workshops as appropriate.

I see the group's aims as developing and improving on current thinking in health policy with a view to achieving lasting influence, especially regarding strategic, long-term, and intersectoral / cross-departmental health policy. We must be prepared to think the unthinkable.

In terms of the range of issues the group might cover, I would suggest:
# UK health and health care policy, including European and international issues which impinge on UK policy;
# public health and health promotion policy;
# the full range of health-relevant public policy.

I would very much like to hear from anyone able to offer support / collaboration in the running of the group. Do please also contact me to confirm your wish to be on the group list and to express any reactions to this outline of the group's purpose.
